CONCEPT OF TALANTA YOUTH CAMP AND BRIEF
PROBLEM ANALYSIS
After the completion of Secondary
Education ( Ordinary or Advanced level) education, form four and form six
leavers face various challenges and problems including:
Failure to bring
under control their dreams and vision they have carried for a long time, this
failure is due to different reasons including but not limited to lack of right
and adequate information on their vision, peer pressure, and losing their
identity.
Failure to define
their vision and their future life focus, some youth are completely not focused
and they don’t know which direction to take.
Difficulties in
or failure to manage their time and ‘new found’ freedom in communities
(villages, towns and cities) since they are no longer under control of school
regulations. As the result, youth fall into vagabond life, alcohol and drug
abuse, early sex, unprotected sex and early pregnancy. All these contribute to
the spread of HIV and AIDS. Also, vagabond life, alcohol and drug abuse lead
youth to sexual abuse, other forms of gender violence and violation of law at
large.
Lack or
inadequate psychological preparations before joining universities
Failure to plan
and manage their finance (from parents or government loans) when they join
Universities, institutes of high learning or colleges
Domination of
traditional thinking or philosophy to study so as to be employed rather than
studying to acquire knowledge and skills for self employment creation.
WHAT DO WE AIM TO
ACHIEVE?
We aim at changing the above mentioned
challenges into opportunities! At the end of the program, the participants will
be able to develop, define and take their dreams and vision to next level
towards life enhancement. The zeal and enthusiasm of participants to live their
dreams and vision will be aroused. Through this program, the participants will
develop and acquire entrepreneurial thinking as a base for innovations,
creativity, daring, planning, accountability and life valuing.
THE UNIQUENESS OF TALANTA YOUTH CAMP
Talanta Youth Camp will tackle and address
real issues through mentors and coaches and create a platform for youths to
identify their fears, threats, weaknesses and think of their strength and
opportunities around them and around the globe.
Our facilitation approach is more than
delivering papers, speeches and lectures, it is a coaching and mentoring
approach which builds capacity to individuals to identify and work on their
strength, weakness, threats and opportunities.
Our team makes the program unique, the
program is designed and managed by people with experience of over 15 years in
the area of youth leadership, youth development programs, counseling and
guidance to youth, managing youth training and youth camps. The exposure to
working in the church and church organizations, exposure to working in the
intercultural, interfaith and international experience for over 15 years adds
value to the program.
